Satraps of Egypt

The following people are attested as satraps of Egypt at the time of the Achaemenids :

• Aryandes , satrap under Cambyses II and Dareios I , who, after Herodotus , was executed by Dareios because he had coins minted with his image.
• Pherendates I. , satrap under Dareios I, which is evidenced by some demotic letters from Elephantine (Pherendates correspondence).
• Achaimenes , satrap under Xerxes I , who lived in 463 BC. At Papremis in a battle against the rebel king Inaros II .
• Arsames , satrap under Artaxerxes I and Darius II , who is attested by ancient authors as well as Neo-Babylonian documents from Nippur and Aramaic documents from Egypt.

• Pherendates II. , Satrap under Artaxerxes III.
• Sabakes , satrap under Darius III.
