Saturn is a seaside resort on the Romanian Black Sea coast . It is located one kilometer north of Mangalia and about 40 kilometers south of Constanța near the Bulgarian border .
history
The bathing resort was founded in 1972 and named after the Roman god Saturn . At the time of socialism in Romania, Saturn was primarily a tourist destination of national interest. Later vacationers from the neighboring Eastern Bloc countries also came to visit, which resulted in a rapid expansion of the hotel industry. Today the tourist area is characterized by several sandy beaches, campsites and multi-storey hotels. Tourists have been coming to the Black Sea coast from all over the world since the beginning of the 21st century; the majority of the holidaymakers are still Romanians and other Eastern Europeans.
geography
The two most important beaches in the municipality are Plaja Adras , near Venus (in the north of the village) and Plaja Diana in the south.
climate
Saturn's climate is subtropical and maritime . In addition, the sea temperatures are significantly higher than in other bathing resorts on the Black Sea, as the warm ocean current continues to heat the region.
