Saurius (family)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Saurius family was first mentioned in 1587 as "Saurius zur Hardt's heirs". In 1594 the "Saurius heirs on the Hardt" were obliged to serve because of their goods on the Harth, to Neunkirchen -Rossenberg (sunk), to Pinnen (Neunkirchen-Pinn) and to Much- Schmerbach.

Gerhard Saur the Elder Elder, probably one of these "heirs", was mayor of Dattenfeld and from 1582 also a country messenger . He died in 1620. There is evidence that he had two sons:

  1. Johann also became mayor of Dattenfeld and died of the plague in 1632 .
  2. Wilhelm moved to Much -Benrath around 1620 .
    1. Gerhard was then probably, but without a birth entry, Gerhard Saur, who is mentioned by one of the descendants as the godfather and mayor of Ruppichteroth. Gerhard Saur lived in Ruppichteroth -Harth and was mayor of the community from 1625 to 1658. In addition to the Gut zur Harth estate, he also owned an estate in Ober-Kesselscheid and was a co-owner of the Zum Isenstein smelter (all Ruppichteroth).
      1. His daughter was married to Heinrich Becker, the mayor of Herchen .
      2. His son Arnold Saur sen. (* around 1600, † 1670) became mayor of Ruppichteroth around 1660. He was married to Elisabeth Griefrath. Children of the two were:
        1. Gerhard Saur, resident of Waldbröl -Romberg, clerk of the Windeck office
        2. Anna Catharina, married Sieberz
        3. Johann Heinrich Saur, 1670–1713 mayor in Ruppichteroth
        4. Johann Adolph Saur, 1675–1705 mayor in Much , married to Elisabeth Myrrhen. He bought Overbach Castle in 1684 and was administrator of the Windeck office from 1694 to 1700 .
        5. Johann Wilhelm Saur, † 1695 Harth, married to Gudula Scherer. In 1683 he was shift supervisor on the Harth. His son Adolph Wilhelm married a Christine Albertz (Olbertz) from Wingenbach in 1698 and from 1698 is often mentioned as a master of mining and metallurgy .
        6. Johann Saur, 1655–1672 was the clerk of the Blankenberg office
        7. Gertrud Saur, married to Wilhelm Bungs
        8. Arnold Saur jun., Married to Anna Margaretha Neßhoven.
