Sausewind is a company from Jüterbog , founded in 1928 , which today specializes in the sale of automotive spare parts and accessories. The founder was Alfred Schulze, whose son Siegfried Schulze managed the company until June 2011. Today the company is managed by the third generation of Markus Schulze as the owner.

Sausewind became famous in the GDR through the production of the wooden children's scooter Sausewind , which was sold under the same protected brand name. Anyone who owned a scooter after the Second World War was often in a breeze. The little scooter quickly became a cult object . Today no more children's scooters are made.

history

The company was founded in 1928 by Alfred Schulze (* 1899), who leased a small workshop for this purpose and initially worked alone as a master craftsman. In 1932 he added a motorcycle shop to this workshop .

During the Second World War , the business and workshop were closed because both Alfred Schulze and his son Siegfried had been drafted as soldiers. In 1946, the father of the current company owner began a new beginning. In 1949 the company had 23 employees. They offered repairs for motorcycles and started small-scale production of children's scooters. Thousands of pieces were made over the years and called Sausewind .

In 1950 Siegfried Schulze took over the company's trading. Two-wheelers increasingly had their original meaning, the production of spare parts for motor vehicles was now the focus. From 1970 to 1975 annual sales rose by 500,000 annually and reached four million marks. At the same time, the supply of spare parts became the company's main business. In 1976 the company was split up on the instructions of the governing bodies of the district council in the GDR . The parts that were no longer required for the supply obligation, including scooter production, were outsourced under the name "DIXILAND". The trading business for motor vehicle and two-wheeler parts continued under the well-known name of Sausewind .

A large part of the spare parts produced by Simson and MZ in the GDR could be acquired by the company and are still available today. A common throughout the GDR slogan was: "Do not look around - ride right at the Whirlwind" .

Even after the political change in the GDR and the subsequent economic change after the monetary, economic and social union , the company was continued and was able to stabilize.

Today it is considered one of the most important restorers and suppliers of spare parts for nostalgic models such as MZ motorcycles , Simson mopeds and also as a specialist for the old brands such as Awo , BK , EMW R 35 , Jawa , Čezeta , Simson SR1 and SR2 , scooters Berlin and Troll as well as for all spare parts and complete vehicles from the former GDR and the Soviet Union .

In 1995, the company opened an online shop that still exists today.

The current owner, Markus Schulze, took over the company in 2011. There were also expansions, such as the opening of the workshop in August 2012. In August 2014, he opened a second online shop called Motorrad Warenhaus, which sells accessories and technology for modern motorcycles and motorcycle clothing is designed.
