Saut Hermès
Saut Hermès is an international equestrian tournament that has been held in Paris every March or April since 2010 .
The tournament
The venue for the tournament is the Grand Palais , an exhibition building built for the World Exhibition in 1900. Due to the large glass surfaces of the Grand Palais, the tournament has a special ambience because (unlike other indoor horse riding tournaments) no artificial light has to be used for lighting. Conversely, this means that the tests are only carried out in daylight.
With the first edition in 2010, equestrian sport returned to the Grand Palais: From 1901 to 1958, the Grand Palais was home to the Concours central hippique de Paris , a riding and driving tournament that was founded in the 1860s.
The tournament lasts from Friday to Sunday. Two or three tests are carried out per day, one of them for riders up to the age of 25. It is held as CSI 5 *, the most difficult category in show jumping.
Unlike most tournaments, the competition is not supported by multiple sponsors. The French luxury goods manufacturer Hermès is the sole sponsor with advertising on obstacles and boards .
The most important exams
Grand Prix Hermés
The Hermés Grand Prix is the most highly endowed Saut Hermés test. It is a jumping competition with jump-off . In 2012 the examination was endowed with 200,000 euros, in 2018 the prize money was 400,000 euros.
There was a special case in 2011: In the jump-off, two riders managed to take the lead with the same time without mistakes. Since no rider managed to be faster than 40.71 seconds without making mistakes, there were two winners of the Grand Prix.
