In 1999 he became French junior champion. A year later he won gold with the team at the Young Riders.

He also won the gold medal in the individual ranking. In 2011, Simon Delestre was an integral part of the French teams in the FEI Nations Cup .

At the 2012 Summer Olympics he is part of the French team at the Olympic Games for the first time . In the first round of the team classification he was the unlucky person of the day. His reins tore before the last obstacle, so he was denied a clear lap. However, despite the broken reins, he managed to overcome the final obstacle with his horse Napoli du Ry in the second attempt . Two years later at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy , he won the silver medal with the French team.

At his first European championships in the age group of "riders", 2015 in Aachen , Delestre won the bronze medal in the individual with Ryan des Hayettes .
