Sawa Ganowski

Sawa Zolow Ganowski ( Bulgarian Сава Цолов Гановски ; born March 1, 1897 in Kunino , † April 24, 1993 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian politician , educator and philosopher.

Life

He first studied philosophy and education in Sofia and then continued his studies in Halle (Saale) and Berlin . In 1918 he joined the Bulgarian Communist Party . From 1923 to 1928 he was a member of the KPD . From 1928 to 1931 he studied philosophy in Moscow . He was arrested in Bulgaria and was temporarily interned.

From 1945 he worked as a professor at the University of Sofia . He belonged to the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and from 1953 to 1966 he was director of the Institute for Pedagogy, from 1977 the Institute for Philosophy. Since 1954 he was a member of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party.

Ganowski wrote several works on philosophical and pedagogical issues.

He was named a Hero of the People's Republic of Bulgaria and a Hero of Socialist Labor . In addition, he received the Georgi Dimitrov Order and the Dimitrov Prize .
