There are also near the Scarborough Civic Center (Town Hall of the former city of Scarborough ) and the Canada Center , an administrative center of the federal government. The route runs on a viaduct in this area, so that the station has three levels. At the top are the platforms of the Scarborough Line, in the middle a distribution level with access to the shopping center and at the bottom the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) bus terminal , where 14 bus routes have their terminus. Immediately to the east of this is the Scarborough Center Bus Terminal , from where suburban lines from GO Transit and intercity buses from Can-ar, Greyhound Canada and Coach Canada operate.

history

The station opened on March 24, 1985, along with the entire Scarborough line between Kennedy and McCowan . Three years earlier there were plans for the first time for the Sheppard Line , which would have connected the Scarborough Center with both outer branches of the Yonge University Line at Sheppard-Yonge and Downsview . After more than a decade of political disputes, planning for most of the route was discontinued in 1995. In 2003, the TTC published a report that gave an extension of the Sheppard Line from Don Mills to Scarborough Center as the highest priority, because this was the only way to achieve its full potential. But this plan was also postponed. According to current plans, the Scarborough line could be replaced by an extension of the Bloor-Danforth line , but on a different route.
