The beautiful bear chamomile ( Ursinia speciosa ) is a species of the genus Ursinia in the sunflower family (Asteraceae).

features

The beautiful bear chamomile is an annual plant that reaches heights of 20 to 40 centimeters. The leaves are twice pinnate and have numerous short pinnate parts. They measure 20 to 55 × 25 millimeters. The pappus is double-row. The outer row is scale-shaped, colored white with a dark spot on the base and measures 4 to 6 × 4 millimeters. The inner row is colored white and hair-shaped. The bracts are six rows and each have a round appendage. The ray-flowers are yellow or orange, in rare cases like the 'Albida' variety also white.

The flowering period extends from July to September.

Occurrence

The beautiful bear chamomile occurs in south-west Africa in Namaqualand and in Namibia on sandy slopes and plains.

use

The beautiful bear chamomile is rarely used as an ornamental plant for summer flower beds, tubs and rock gardens. This plant species has been in cultivation since 1930 at the latest.
