The 1992 Senior World Chess Championship was an international chess tournament that was held from November 8th to 22nd, 1992 in the Kurhaus in Bad Wörishofen .

The senior world championship in chess was organized by FIDE and organized by Reinhold Hoffmann.

123 men and one woman took part in the open world championship that Efim Geller won. There was a separate tournament for women who played a round-robin tournament , as there were exactly 12 participants. Éva Karakas became world champion .

A total of 136 women and men from 26 countries took part, including well-traveled participants from New Zealand, Brazil and Singapore. Although defending champion Vasily Smyslow was missing, the championship was well filled with 9 grandmasters and 2 grandmasters. The oldest participant was Lothar Günther from Füssen at the age of 88.
