The 1996 Seniors World Chess Championship was an international chess tournament that was held from November 10th to 24th, 1996 in the Kurhaus in Bad Liebenzell . The senior world championship in chess was organized by FIDE and, as in 1991 , 1992, 1993 , 1995 by Reinhold Hoffmann.

180 men and women took part in the open world championship won by Alexei Suetin . The separate championship for 26 women was won by Valentina Kozlovskaya .
