Boris Naumowitsch Grusman ( Russian Борис Наумович Грузман ; at the World Chess Federation FIDE Boris Gruzmann; born December 17, 1934 ) is a Russian chess player .

Life

At the age of 14, Grusman joined the chess section in the Moscow House of Pioneers. After serving in the army, he began studying at the Automechanical Institute in Moscow. In 1959 he was a candidate for a master craftsman. The II. All-Union folk tournament on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Pravda newspaper in 1962 in Vladimir he finished outside the top 10. In April 1966 he took part in a Scheveningen tournament in Moscow with the participation of Abram Chasin , Alexander Saizew , Jacob Murey , Sergej Salov and other players took part. Grusman earned 7.5 points from 14 games and received the title of Master of Sports of the USSR . In 1968 he won the Moscow Oblast Open Championship in Dubna .

Grusman has had some success even at an advanced age. At the Senior World Championship in Bad Liebenzell in 1996 , he finished sixth, tied with five other players. In 2009 he finished fourth at the European Senior Championship in rapid chess in Rogaška Slatina . In August 2011, Grusman, who lives in Germany, came second, tied with tournament winner Jurij Vasiljev, at the German Individual Senior Championships in Halle (Saale) . After four years he won the German Senior Individual Championship 2015 in Magdeburg . Grusman belonged to several chess clubs in Germany (SV Kali Wolmirstedt, SVg Lasker-Steglitz , TuS Makkabi Berlin , Lübecker SV ). With SK Zehlendorf he played in the 2nd Bundesliga North. In October 2012 in Berlin and in November 2014 in Dresden he won the German company sports team championship with the SK President ( Robert Rabiega , Jakob Meister , Eugen Tripolsky (only 2012), Salov, Grusman himself and Reinhard Müller). In December 2014, Grusman moved to the German Chess Federation .

Grusman is no stranger to correspondence chess either. In the 25th European Championship, which was held between 1982 and 1987, he finished second with 10.5 points out of 14 behind Vladas Gefenas . At the ICCF congress in Järvenpää in 1991 he was awarded the title of International Master .

In Moscow, Grusman was employed in the quality department of the SIL works . He was active as a chess trainer both in Russia (Soviet Union) and in Germany. GM Leonid Kritz is one of his former students .
