The sound measurement van is a specially developed rail vehicle from DB Systemtechnik , with which the acoustic condition of the running surfaces of rails can be measured. The vehicle belongs to the Dienstümh 306 vehicle type and has the vehicle number 63 80 99-95 015-3 .

vehicle

The vehicle was from a former dining car of the US Army rebuilt. It runs on one side on a special bogie that has no brakes and whose axles can be replaced within a relatively short time in order to ensure the most constant possible condition with smooth running surfaces of the wheels and their even running.

A low-reflection cabin was set up in one compartment, in which the rolling noise is measured with a microphone directly above an opening in the floor of the car and directly above the unbraked bogie.

The control car of the sound measurement train

The sound measurement car runs in the middle of a push-pull train made up of a locomotive and three cars . A protective car is located between the locomotive and the measuring car , which is used to keep noises from the locomotive away from the measuring process. At the end of the train there is an indirect control car (indirect, here you can only brake, but no power is switched on), which allows travel in the opposite direction - limited by the indirect control to 140 km / h.

The unit is approved for a speed of up to 200 km / h. As a result, the measurements can take place during the scheduled train traffic without obstructing it.

Measurement

The sound measuring van provides information about the condition of the runway on a route and forms the basis for measuring technology to use the “ specially monitored track ” procedure , which according to the Schall03 guideline can also be part of a plan approval .

The measurement takes place at speeds between 80 km / h and 200 km / h. The sound test van is maintained in a calibrated manner within these speed limits.

The results obtained with the sound measurement van correspond to those of an outside measurement
