Shamil Kudijamagomedowitsch Kudijamagomedow ( Russian Шамиль Кудиямагомедович Кудиямагомедов ; born  May 9, 1993 in Kisljar , Dagestan ) is a Russian wrestler . In 2016 he became European champion in free style in the weight class up to 86 kg body weight.

Career

Shamil Kudijamagomedow grew up in Kislyar and came to wrestle there. His great talent was recognized early and he moved to Makhachkala at the age of 15 . He belongs to the Gamidow Makhachkala wrestling club and has been coached by Anwar Magomedgadschijew since 2008. He wrestles exclusively in free style. At a height of 1.78 meters, the dark-haired strong athlete is middleweight .

He made his debut on the international wrestling mat at the European Junior Championships 2012 in Pattaya . He finished there in the middleweight division behind Mohammasjavad Ebrahimizivlaei from Iran and the American Pat Downey in 3rd place and thus won his first international medal.

At the Russian championship in 2013 he defeated the two-time European champion Ansor Urischew in the middleweight finals and became Russian champion. Then he went to the Universiade in Kazan at the start and finished 2nd in the middleweight division, losing in the final fight against Gheorghiță Ștefan from Romania. Nevertheless, he got the chance to start at the World Championships in Budapest in September 2013. He defeated the Brazilian Adrian Antoine Jaoude in his first fight there, but then lost to Ehsan Lashgari from Iran. Since this did not reach the final, Shamil Kudijamagomedow was eliminated and only came in 13th place.

At the Russian championship in 2014 he was defeated in the final of the weight class up to 86 kg body weight by the high-flyer Abdulraschid Sadulajew. He was therefore not used in an international championship this year. In July 2014, however, he won the Golden Grand Prix in Baku in the same weight class ahead of Ehsan Lashgari and Aleksandr Qostiyev from Azerbaijan.

In March 2015, Schamil Kudijamagomedow was used at the U23 European Championship, which was held for the first time in Walbrzych / Poland. After winning two fights, he lost there in the semifinals against Magomedhadschi Chatijew from Azerbaijan and then secured a bronze medal with a victory over the Turkish Fatih Erdin. At the Russian championship in 2015, he lost again in the final against Abdulraschid Sadulajew. In October 2015 he won the World Military Games in Mungyeong / South Korea in the weight class up to 86 kg ahead of Mohammasjavad Ebrahimizivlaei and Adilet Dawlumbajew from Kazakhstan.

In January 2016 he also won the “Ivan Yarigin” Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk in the weight category up to 86 kg in front of his Russian compatriots Arsenali Musalalijew, Dauren Kuruglijew and Wladislaw Walijew, thus setting the course for a successful 2016 Olympic year. In March 2016 Shamil Kudijamagomedow was used by the Russian Wrestling Federation at the European Championships in Riga. He defeated there in the weight category up to 86 kg Rene Matejov from Slovakia, Shamir Atjan from Armenia, the former world champion Ibragim Aldatow from the Ukraine, he, after a 11: sent 0-point lead ahead of the mat and in the final Aleksandr Qostiyev from Azerbaijan (6-2 point win). This made him European champion in 2016.
