Hermann Ziegenspeck (born August 28, 1891 in Ingolstadt , † June 20, 1959 in Augsburg ) was a German pharmacist and botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is “ Ziegensp. "

Life

After Hermann Ziegenspeck had left the Augsburg high school near St. Anna after the 7th grade, i.e. without the Abitur, he first completed an apprenticeship as a pharmacist in Augsburg. He then studied natural sciences at the University of Jena . In 1913 he became a member of the Corps Frisia Jena. During the First World War , in which he participated as a medical officer, he passed the state examination in pharmacists and was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD. After the end of the war he first took over the management of his parents' pharmacy in Augsburg, then studied food chemistry at the University of Tübingen and after the state examination went as an assistant to the Botanical Institute of the University of Königsberg , where he qualified as a professor in 1924 and, after completing his Abitur, the Venia Legendi received. Until 1932 he taught systematic and physiological anatomy as a university lecturer. From 1926 to 1932 he was co-editor of the journal Botanical Archive . In 1932 he returned to Augsburg, where he was the owner of the Marienapotheke and taught botany as a lecturer at the adult education center .

Goat bacon made a special contribution to researching the flora in the area around Augsburg, especially in the area of ​​the Siebentischwald . He was the author of numerous contributions to scientific compilations and belonged to the Regensburg Botanical Society . For the Neue Deutsche Biographie he wrote numerous biographies of botanists.
