Scharringhausen is a district of Kirchdorf in the municipality of Kirchdorf in the district of Diepholz in Lower Saxony (Germany).

history

According to old soil finds, people lived in the Scharringhausen area as early as the most recent Stone Age .

The Counts of Hoya , who have been known since 1202 , acquired land in many places, including in the Kirchdorfer area, especially "up dem Borne". The lands located here were transferred to House Freudenberg (= Bassum) as pledged goods and assigned. They came into the possession of local residents. In the Hoya document book around 1330 it is said that the area in the Börde belongs to the counts. In 1349 the plague raged in the region.

In 1380 the land up to Borne belonged to Voigtei Uchte. From 1582 to 1816 the Kirchdorf area, to which Scharringhausen also belonged, was under Hessian rule.

In 1816 the Uchte office came to the Kingdom of Hanover . According to records, around 1820 there was a kind of private school in Scharringhausen in which some children were taught by Adolf Moritz Weber from Kirchdorf.

The Kirchdorfer Church was built from 1830 to 1833. In 1852 there was a general division of the lands of Kirchdorf, Barenburg and Scharringhausen. Scharringhausen and Kuppendorf were independent parishes in the parish of Kirchdorf. On March 1, 1974, both places were incorporated into the Kirchdorf community.

Naming

The name means: Scharen = scraping together or blowing sand together to form hills or dunes, where people built houses. Older known names of the place are Scheringhusen, Scharrinkhusen and Scharringhusen.
