The Scheibe SF 33 Trainer is a single-seat motor glider manufactured by the company Scheibe-Flugzeugbau GmbH in a composite construction.

history

The SF 33 is a further development of the SF 29 . As the nickname "trainer" suggests, the goal of the design was to create an aircraft that was easy to fly for training purposes. The first flight took place in 1977. The production of one prototype remained, which received the aircraft registration D-KOCH and was later sold to the USA and then to Canada .

construction

The motor glider is a self - launching low- wing aircraft with a fixed undercarriage, consisting of a central and a tail wheel as well as support wheels under each wing, similar to the disc-falcon . The SF 33 was manufactured in a mixed construction , the motorization was a BMW motorcycle engine with 25 kW (35 HP at a speed of 3500 min −1 ). As with other disc constructions, the self-supporting normal tail unit is also made of wood, with the fins covered with plywood and the rudders covered with fabric. Similar to the ASK 13, the wings are swept forward and have airbrakes on the upper side of the wing.
