The SF 36 is a motor glider from the company Scheibe-Flugzeugbau GmbH . It is a two-seater training and performance motor glider in GRP construction with seats next to each other.
history
The motor glider was planned as a GRP successor to the SF 25 . By the end of the company only seven pieces were made; In the competition for plastic motor gliders and gliders, the mixed construction company was unable to survive with the SF 36 in front of the rival companies Grob and Hoffmann (later Diamond Aircraft) with the G 109 A and Dimona models . In 2010, the company took disk Aircraft in Heubach the pattern support and rights to the SF 36 from the former company Scheibe Flugzeugbau in Dachau . Resumption of production is being considered.
construction
The SF 36 is a cantilever low-wing aircraft with a two-part wing, airbrakes on the upper side of the wing and a damped cross tail. The main landing gear consists either of a sprung, brakable, rigid or retractable central wheel or a sprung bipod undercarriage with individual wheel brakes.
Motorization
The SF 36 was delivered with a Limbach engine . Two copies were retrofitted with a Rotax engine (SF 36 R).
Flight characteristics
The flight characteristics of the SF 36 differ fundamentally from those of the SF 25, which is mainly explained by the conception as a GRP aircraft. Cruising speeds of over 200 km / h can be achieved with a controllable pitch propeller. The approach speed is 105 km / h. The SF 36 is characterized by a harmonious rudder adjustment and agile flight behavior.
use
As part of the association, it is used in Germany for school, sailing and cross-country flights.
