Scheller (Hohnhorst)

Im Scheller or simply Scheller is a locality of the district Hohnhorst of the municipality Hohnhorst in the integrated municipality Nenndorf in the district of Schaumburg in Lower Saxony .

Scheller is located about one and a half kilometers northeast of the locality of Hohnhorst. Immediately north-east of Scheller is the location of Waldfrieden, which borders the neighboring municipality of Haste . The route of the Hanover – Minden railway line and the Deister railway branching off from it run in the southeast of Scheller . The Haste train station is about 100 m east of Scheller. The gated level crossing on Landesstraße 449, located right next to the train station in Haste, was replaced in 2015 by a ramp and bridge on the Schelleraner area. A part of the Scheller location east of the railway lines on the southern edge of Haste is used as a commercial area.

At the beginning of the 1960s there was a lack of building land in Hohnhorst . Since it was not possible to acquire arable land in the village and turn it into building land, the community finally bought three acres of arable land from Haster landowners in 1962 . In December 1962, the first building plot in Im Scheller was sold. Due to the great demand, the building area was expanded by 14 hectares in 1963 . The overplanned area thus extended right up to the properties of the Haster location in Waldfrieden.

The Catholic Church of St. Petrus Canisius von Hohnhorst built in Scheller was consecrated on July 8, 1967. Only then began the expansion of the roads, which lasted until 1977. In 1976 a sports hall was built for the primary school in Haste in the Schelleraner area . All districts of Hohnhorst also belong to their catchment area.

In 2014, around 320 people lived in Scheller's eight residential streets. In a new development area on the western edge of the village, around 70 additional plots are to be built in two construction phases from 2019.
