Schierbrok is an independent farming community in the Ganderkesee municipality .

geography

Schierbrok is located about five kilometers northwest of Delmenhorst on the northern edge of the Wildeshauser Geest . In the northeast, Schierbrok borders on Schönemoor , in the east on Heide ; Hoykenkamp is on the southeastern border. To the southwest is Stenum , west Rethorn and northwest Bookholzberg .

Shortly after the First World War , Schierbrok was separated from Stenum and became independent.

Economy and Infrastructure

The place has had a train station since 1884. The Schierbrok stop is on the Bremen – Oldenburg railway line . There are also bus connections to Hude , Bookholzberg, Ganderkesee and via Delmenhorst to Bremen .

There is a kindergarten and a primary school in Schierbrok. A Protestant and a Catholic church are located in the adjacent resort of Stenum. Furthermore, a supermarket, a gas station, a Volksbank, a pharmacy, a general practitioner and a dentist are located in Schierbrok.

South of the railway line, fast DSL is only available from Kabel Deutschland . VDSL is available north of the railway line through the company EWE Tel .

Personalities

The artist Wolfgang Hainke (* 1944) lives in Schierbrok .
