Hengsterholz is the southernmost part of the municipality of Ganderkesee in the Lower Saxony district of Oldenburg . This also includes the single farms in Brink , Hestern , Heidloge , Neustadt and Riehe .

Geography and transport links

The farmers are located about 6.5 km south of Ganderkesee. Amidst this is a 12 hectares large enclave , which the municipality Prinzhöfte belongs. Over the adjacent national highway 213 , the neighboring cities Delmenhorst and Wildeshausen within easy reach, as are the motorways A1 and A28 .

history

Hengsterholz is first mentioned in 1213 as Langenhenstede , and in 1464 as Hensteder Holte . In 1815 there were 41 campfire sites and 268 residents in the village (including Hestern). From 1658 to 1972 there was a school here. In the 16./17. In the 19th century, large areas of heather stretched north and west, which were used as sheep pastures. The old Bassumer Weg coming from Hatten towards Harpstedt crossed the Flämische Straße , today's B 213.

Culture

The Hengsterholz Recreation Park has been located in a forest on Bassumer Heerweg since 1975 . There is also the gymnastics and sports club Hengsterholz - Havekost , whose hall and sports field are located between the villages.
