Lean pasture on Bärenberg from the west

The nature reserve Magerweide south of the Bärenberg with a size of 1.2  ha is located north of Endorf in the urban area of Sundern (Sauerland) . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) with an area of 0.8 hectares for the first time in 1993 with the Sundern landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . When the landscape planner Sundern was reorganized, the NSG was identified again and slightly enlarged. The NSG is surrounded by the Sundern nature reserve . In the west it borders directly on the country road.

Area description

The NSG is a short-grass poor pasture on a relatively steep, south-west exposed slope. There are some old junipers on the upper slope.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the poor pasture with the species there. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
