Nature reserve Former Hermann mine
The former Grube Hermann nature reserve with a size of 5.2 hectares is located southwest of the hamlet Hüttebruchen in the urban area of Sundern (Sauerland) . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) with an area of 0.5 ha for the first time in 1993 with the Sundern landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . When the landscape planner Sundern was reorganized, the NSG was again identified and enlarged. The NSG borders directly on the city limits of Plettenberg in the west and on the Krähetal nature reserve east of the Hermann pit in the east . Otherwise the landscape protection area borders Sundern .
Habitats
The NSG is a former mining site with tunnels. The area is covered with forest. There are some large populations of peat moss locally in the pings and mining subsidence.
Protection purpose
In the NSG, the forest is supposed to protect with species inventory. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
