Halden nature reserve south of Bönkhausen
The Halden nature reserve south of Bönkhausen with a size of 3 hectares is located near Bönkhausen in the city of Sundern (Sauerland) . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) with an area of 1 ha and the name Halden nature reserve south of Bönkhausen for the first time in 1993 with the Sundern landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . When the landscape planner Sundern was reorganized, the NSG was again identified and significantly enlarged. The NSG consists of two areas. The NSG is surrounded by the Sundern nature reserve .

These are small heaps of historical mining activity in the Bönkhauser Bachtal.
Protection purpose
The NSG is supposed to protect the dumps and the species there. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
