Kohlbrüche Nature Reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Kohlbrüche with a size of 13.6  hectares is located northwest of Sundern (Sauerland) . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) for the first time in 1993 with the Sundern landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis, with an area of 4.7 hectares and eight sub-areas. When the landscape planner Sundern was reorganized, the NSG was identified again. The area of the protected area has been significantly enlarged and designated as a contiguous area. The NSG is surrounded by the Sundern nature reserve .

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the area with the species there. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
