Hohe Hahn nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hohe Hahn nature reserve with a size of 4.3  hectares is located northwest of Hövel in the urban area of Sundern (Sauerland) . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) for the first time in 1993 with the Sundern landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . When the landscape planner Sundern was reorganized, the NSG was identified again. The NSG borders the Sundern nature reserve to the west and the Hohe Hahn nature reserve west of Hövel .

Area description

The NSG is a lean grassland complex with high structural diversity and breeding occurrences of Red List species.

Protection purpose

The NSG is intended to protect the lean grassland complex and the species there. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
