from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Stemeler Holz nature reserve with an area of 23.1  hectares is located southeast of Stemel in the urban area of Sundern and in the Hochsauerland district . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2019 with the Sundern landscape plan . Before that, it was designated as a Sundern Landscape Protection Area from 1993 . The NSG consists of two areas that are only a few meters apart at one point. The NSG goes in the west or north-west to the edge of the village or the country road at the level of the Lübke & Vogt company. Except for the built-up areas, it is surrounded by the Sundern nature reserve.

description

The landscape plan shows the nature reserves with coppice in the city of Sundern: “The LSG comprises a mixed oak and beech forest. The forest area is a recognized seed stock. The mixed forest predominantly shows a high age of wood. Individual trees have a trunk diameter of over 90 cm. Two only periodic water-bearing small spring brooks arise on the western lower slope of the NSG. "

Protection purpose

According to the landscape plan, the designation took place:

  • "Protection, conservation and optimization of a large mixed deciduous forest through near-natural forest management."
  • "The NSG also serves to sustainably secure the occurrence of rare animal and plant species."
