The Piepenbruch nature reserve with an area of ​​2.3  hectares is located east of Langscheid in the urban area of Sundern and in the Hochsauerlandkreis . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2019 with the Sundern landscape plan . Before that, the area in the Sundern landscape plan from 1993 was without any protection designation. The NSG is surrounded by the Flasmecketal nature reserve .
