Magerweide Stockmecke nature reserve

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Magerweide Stockmecke with a size of 2.6  ha is located northeast of Allendorf in the urban area of Sundern (Sauerland) . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) with an area of 3.5 hectares for the first time in 1993 with the Sundern landscape plan by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis . When the landscape planner Sundern was reorganized, the NSG was again identified and reduced in size. The NSG borders directly to the west and south of the Sorpe and Stockmecketal nature reserve , to the north and north-east of the nature reserve outskirts and agricultural priority areas in the landscape between Amecke, Bruchhausen, Allendorf and Stockum and to the east of the Sundern nature reserve . The NSG is located near Landesstrasse 687 and Allendorf.

Area description

The NSG is a 400 m long steep slope exposed to the southwest from the Grünerberg. Species-rich red fescue ostrich pastures in the NSG are mainly limited to the steepest, non-navigable middle and lower slope areas. In the flatter slope sections and on the upper slope, ryegrass-white clover willows are pronounced. The numerous woods, including a solitary oak protected as a natural monument, some fruit trees and hedges, are mostly located on the steepest slopes. The entire NSG is extensively grazed, with additional mowing in passable areas.

Protection purpose

The NSG is supposed to protect the area with the species there. As with all nature reserves in Germany, the protection designation pointed out that the area became a nature reserve “because of the rarity, special character and beauty of the area”.
