Nature reserve Wäldchen am Stemmberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The nature reserve Wäldchen am Stemmberg with an area of 2.6  hectares is located west of Hellefeld in the urban area of Sundern and in the Hochsauerland district . The area was designated as a nature reserve (NSG) by the district council of the Hochsauerlandkreis in 2019 with the Sundern landscape plan . Before that, the area was designated as part of the Sundern nature reserve from 1993 . A quarry is adjacent to the west . Otherwise the NSG is surrounded by the Sundern nature reserve. The western part of the NSG is shown in the Arnsberg regional plan as an area for securing and mining near-surface mineral resources . This section is part of a legally binding excavation permit and can therefore soon be used as a quarry. The designation as a nature reserve then expires.

description

The landscape plan explains the NSG: “The NSG is a lime beech forest with partly thick old wood and has a largely typical herb layer. At the edge of the quarry in the west, on a steep north-facing slope, there is an ash-rich canyon forest in the age of thick wood with a larger population of the silver leaf characteristic of canyon forests . The ravine forest has partly a shallow block rubble soil with typical moss vegetation and a lush, species-rich and ground-covering herb layer. The ravine forest shows natural regeneration of ravine forest characteristics mountain elm and ash. There is a relatively large amount of dead wood in the canyon forest . In the north-west of the NSG there are ash and sycamore maples of middle age. In the northern central part there is an ash afforestation with some spruce trees. The northern edge of the NSG has plant species due to its proximity to the adjacent field eutrophication indicator. In the center and in the northeast there are several smaller historical limestone quarries with several z. Partly fissured limestone walls. "

The landscape plan explains the value of the NSG: “The canyon forest with the silver leaf deposits is to be emphasized, it represents a priority FFH habitat type and is a very rare habitat in the western district area. The biotope network is an important stepping stone biotope for animal and plant species in the canyon forests and beech forests. "

Protection purpose

According to the landscape plan, it was designated as:

  • "Protection, conservation and development of rare forest communities (ravine forest and woodruff beech forest with old wood) and their communities."
  • "The NSG also serves to sustainably secure habitats that are particularly worthy of protection according to § 30 BNatschG and the occurrence of rare animal and plant species."

bid

A special requirement was issued for the NSG . The command is "the deposits (household waste, rock rubble, old agricultural equipment) must be removed."
