VariCAD

VariCAD is a 2D / 3D CAD program that was primarily designed for mechanical engineering . The program can be used to create two-dimensional drawings and three-dimensional volume models , so-called solids. VariCAD supports parameters, geometric constraints and assembly constructions, as well as attributes with automatic parts list generation. The system also offers construction tools such as B. for shell bodies, pipelines, sheet metal processing , collision analyzes, etc.

The program includes a standard parts catalog with screws , nuts , roller bearings and much more. It also offers integrated calculation modules, for example for springs , bending and torsion of girders , as well as volume , mass and center of gravity calculations .

With VariCAD, 2D data from third-party systems can be imported and saved in DXF and DWG format , and IGES data can be exported in 3D format. The support of the industry standard format for product data exchange STEP enables data to be exchanged with all common 3D CAD systems. The output of the 3D data in STL format enables the direct creation of physical prototypes with the stereolithography technology.

VariCAD is available for the Windows and Linux operating systems , supports Unicode and therefore also languages such as Japanese, Russian or Chinese.

The free and free VariCAD Viewer is a proprietary CAD viewer that is based on the same geometry core as VariCAD and therefore, in addition to VariCAD's own 2D and 3D format, the 2D formats DXF , DWG , and the 3D format STEP can represent. In addition to the graphic representation of these formats, geometries can be analyzed and measured with the viewer, 3D elements can be output as high-resolution graphics files , 2D data can be printed out and plotted and saved and thus converted in all formats supported by VariCAD.
