Cabinet reshuffle December 1962

Because of the Spiegel affair , all FDP federal ministers resigned in protest on November 19, 1962. When it was then assured that the Franz Josef Strauss (CSU) involved in the affair would not be part of the new cabinet again, the Adenauer V cabinet was formed in December 1962. Strauss was replaced as Defense Minister in January 1963 by Kai-Uwe von Hassel (CDU).
