The Schiffenberg is a mountain on the border between Struthütten ( Neunkirchen , Siegen-Wittgenstein district ) and Dermbach ( Herdorf , Altenkirchen district ) or North Rhine-Westphalia and Rhineland-Palatinate . The mountain has a height of 452.6 m and lies between Brachbach and Neunkirchen.
South of the mountain in the Struthütten area was the "Dachs" mine, which was in operation in 1812 and closed in 1868. The “Dachser Erbstollen” had a length of 658 m. In 1831 the mine consolidated. Brown stone, spate iron stone and copper ore were mined. In addition to the Dachs Pit, there were also various pits nearby on Herdorfer Grund.
