Ignaz Franz Xaver Kurzinger (sometimes also Kürtzinger , Kirzinger , Kyrzinger , Khierzinger , Kürsinger ); (Born January 30, 1724 in Rosenheim ; † August 12, 1797 in Würzburg ) was a German composer and musician .
Life
After completing his schooling, Kurzinger first attended the seminary in Innsbruck , but appeared in Hungary as a field trumpeter in 1740 . In 1742 he went to Berlin to study composition with Carl Heinrich Graun , and then in 1751 he became Kapellmeister in Mergentheim , where his son, the later composer Paul Ignaz Kurzinger, was born. Ignaz Franz Kurzinger settled down as a member of the court orchestra in Würzburg from 1763 , where he also held the position of music director at the Juliusspital . Here he died 34 years later. Kurzinger is considered to be the teacher of the composer Georg Valentin Röder .

Only a few works by the composer have survived. The Missa solemnis in D major from 1794, which has survived in Ebrach , should be mentioned as an example of his sacred compositions .
