Reeds (heraldry)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Reed is a common figure in heraldry and a plant that is not often used in the coat of arms . It shows reeds or reeds with one to three plants, upright and with more or less long, narrow, slightly protruding leaves, the tips of which are slightly rolled or bent. In the center of a stem there is an inflorescence in a cylindrical shape (cattail) and often with a color different from the leaves. All heraldic tingings are possible.

As a pipe (piston) it is a template for a talking coat of arms of the municipality of Rohr AG in Switzerland . Also as a talking coat of arms on the place name Rhede , something like Ried or Reet, was a cattail in the old coat of arms. Lehmkuhlens district Rethwisch, meaning Feuchtwiese with Reth, was the godfather of the talking coat of arms.
