The Schillerplatz in Chemnitz is a park in the center of the city center . It got its name in 1859 on the occasion of the 100th birthday of Friedrich Schiller and has been expanded as planned since 1890.

location

The square is located in the immediate vicinity of the Böttcher building of the Chemnitz University of Technology and not far from the main train station . It is bordered from east to west by the Straße der Nations , the Hotel Chemnitzer Hof , the St. Petrikirche , the Karl-Liebknecht- Straße, and to the north by the former share spinning mill. The Richard Tauber -Straße as well as the George street running through the square. The Chemnitz bus station is located north of Georgstrasse . Another important building in the immediate vicinity is the Alte Hauptpost .

The Schillerplatz facilities were built according to the plans of the commercial director Götze of the share spinning mill.
