The Schineck was a volume measure for grain . The measure, which can be distinguished in three different sizes, was limited to the city of Timisoara and the Banat , a historical region of Romania . The dimension designation is said to have Turkish origin. The underlying okka , widespread in Slavonia , Croatia and the Banat, was calculated at 80.387 Parisian cubic inches or 1.5946 liters . The okka was 1/40 of the Metzen (old Pressburger ); actually a weight measure of 2¼ pounds or 1260.027 grams (in Turkish trade).

  • 1 Schineck (large) = 80 okka
  • 1 Schineck (middle) = 60 Okka
  • 1 Schineck (small) = 50 okka
