On the occasion of the art project Platzverführung , de Vries created the art object out of plastic and steel . The height of the sculpture is 21 meters, the length of the snake around 12 meters with a weight of 180 kg. The house with twigs and a snake, which was installed in 1992 above the intersection of Wilhelmstrasse and Schlossstrasse ( B 27 ), known as the Sternkreuzung, rests on a sloping girder. The sculpture was bought by the Badische Landesbank for 250,000 DM and given to the city of Ludwigsburg.

The traffic restrictions associated with the installation by blocking a turning lane led to controversy.

After initially controversial opinions, the sculpture has now arrived in the cityscape of Ludwigsburg and was restored by the builder in 2006. Alke Hollwedel , director of the Ludwigsburg Museum, sees the sculpture as one of the city's landmarks .
