The Schleicher Electronic Berlin GmbH is a medium-sized, CNC -Steuerungssysteme developed for automation technology, produces and sells. Another product area is functional safety technology .

Cooperations

Schleicher Electronic works together with research institutions such as the Fraunhofer Society and the Technical University of Berlin . The company is also a member of SERCOS International eV , the publisher of an open, real-time capable interface for drives, as well as the Component Obsolescence Group (COG Deutschland e.V.), an organization that deals with the unavailability of products and tries to reduce them .

history

Schleicher Electronic goes back to the Schleicher Relais Werke , which were founded in Berlin in 1937. In 1958 the company presented the time relay at the first industrial fair in Hanover . This was the world's first multifunctional time relay at the time and is still widely used due to its purely electromechanical basis. Electromechanical and later electronic time relays were and are sold in large numbers around the world and made the Schleicher Relay Works internationally known.

In 1976, Schleicher developed one of the first programmable logic controllers (PLC) and launched it on the market. In 1983 an NC core was developed in collaboration with a Fraunhofer Institute, which Schleicher Electronic took over completely. The company is one of the few CNC manufacturers with its own software core.

In 1986 the company received the Berlin-Brandenburg Innovation Prize for an "Online Curve Interpolator" for generating free-form curves (on NC machines). In 1988 the “Promodul-U” CNC-RC-PLC system was introduced and in 1989 safety switching devices were launched. In 1995 production was switched from assembly line production to the then new group work.

From 2003 Schleicher Electronic belonged to the Wieland group. During this phase, Wieland took over sales to the parent company for key Schleicher product areas and did not pursue a number of product developments any further. During this time, Schleicher was essentially a production and development company and was dependent on sales by the parent company until the latter sold the company to Aurelius AG in 2007 . After the reorganization and expansion of sales and the establishment on the Asian market, Aurelius sold the company to the entrepreneur Sven Dübbers in the summer of 2013.

In December 2014, the company renamed itself Schleicher Electronic Berlin as part of a realignment. In the same year, Schleicher founded the Schleicher Incubator Zoom Zone Labs ( sizzl ) brand , which supports start-ups in the development of electronic hardware products. The company also entered the US market in 2014 . The company filed for bankruptcy on June 21, 2019 .
