The Schletteralm was mentioned in 1667 and until 1962 managed Alm on the municipal area of Isny in the modern district of Ravensburg .
history
On an old forest map of the Benedictine monastery of St. Georg zu Isny from 1667, the area above Bolsternang and Großholzleut , today a district of Isny, is recorded as Gschletter or Bolsternang cattle pasture . The Roman fort Vemania was located in a north-north-westerly direction in the valley of the Lower Argen at a distance of ten kilometers as the crow flies .
The so-called "Gschletter" was used as an ox pasture for farmers. At that time there was no dairy industry in the Allgäu known as it is today . In 1796 vereinödete the abbey's corridors in Bolsternang. The Schletteralm was not affected. In the 19th century , the dairy industry became a major economic factor in the poor mountain region. In 1841 large parts of the forest were cleared and converted into alpine meadows. In addition to the existing alpine pasture, a dairy farm was built in which cheese was made until 1896 .
In 1896 the farmers set up their own cheese dairy in their village of Bolsternang. The Schletteralm was acquired by the imperial county of Quadt -Wickradt-Isny at a price of 76,500 marks . Extensive forests up to the Eschacher Weiher also belonged to the Alm . The count's house converted the Alm into an inn and leased it. Hikers came in summer and snowshoeers in winter.
In 1912 the Alm was expanded to include additional rooms. The Alm was one of the most popular excursion destinations in the region and was known far beyond for its May dances and bonfire celebrations . From the location of the Alm you have a good all-round view of the town of Isny and the Dethleffs company premises , which are now part of the Hymer company and the Vemania Roman fort .
In 1962 the Alm couldn't find a tenant and was completely destroyed by fire. The property is owned by the noble family Quadt zu Wykradt and Isny.
