The associated weir is about 1.6 km upstream from the Regensburg power plant . The chamber of the Regensburg single lock has a useful length of 190 meters and a width of 12 meters. It is located on river kilometer 2379.7. The drop height of the lock is 5.20 m. The chamber is filled by lifting the lifting / lowering gate. The chamber is emptied via gates in the lower stem gate .

2008 accident
On March 13, 2008, a spectacular accident occurred when a Dutch cargo ship was leaving the lock on the valley side. The ship's crane touched the gas pipeline under the bridge and tore it open. This caused a fire that led to the total loss of the Protzenweiherbrücke , which has since been rebuilt.
Boat lock
At the weir of the Regensburg power plant there is a boat lock that leads from the headwater of the weir into the southern arm of the Danube. The large shipping lock may not be used by small craft.
