The Schlienz Omnibus GmbH & Co. KG , based in Esslingen was as a private bus companies in line , casual and travel business. The company was founded in 2011 as a spin-off from Omnibus Schlienz Travel Agency GmbH & Co. KG , which today operates as Schlienz-Tours GmbH & Co. KG . On November 30, 2019, Schlienz Omnibus ceased its business operations.

history

The company was founded in 1932 as Fischle & Schlienz by bus drivers Christian Schlienz and Ernst Fischle, who had become unemployed due to the global economic crisis . They resumed driving on the bus routes of their former employer in trucks and military buses.

After Schlienz's death in 1953, his wife and son took over the company. Ernst Fischle left the company and founded his own bus company, which still exists in Esslingen today. While its company Esslinger Omnibusverkehr E. Fischle limited itself to the regular service in Esslingen, the Schlienz company also opened up the surrounding area with bus routes and was also active in bus travel.

In 1971 Schlienz took over the Wörner bus company in Stetten in the Remstal valley. On July 1, 1974, the company Omnibus Dannenmann in Aichwald-Schanbach (not to be confused with Omnibus Dannenmann from Weinstadt-Beutelsbach) by the companies Fischle and Schlienz followed. Line 113 went to Schlienz, while Fischle took over line 114. The vehicles were each divided. In 1981 Schlienz moved into a new depot in Kernen-Rommelshausen. In addition to Esslingen, travel agencies were also set up in Plochingen, Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt and Geislingen an der Steige.

The company had around 100 employees until 2010 and transported around 4.5 million people annually with 56 buses.

In 2010, the joint owners of the family business decided to split up the business. The head office in Esslingen-Wäldenbronn was spun off into Schlienz Omnibus GmbH & Co. KG in 2011 , while the Kernen-Rommelshausen location and the travel agencies initially remained with Omnibus Schlienz Reisebüro GmbH & Co. KG , until they became Schlienz Tours in 2013 GmbH & Co. KG was transferred. To differentiate the two bus companies with the same name, Schlienz-Tours chose a new look in black, while Schlienz Omnibus stayed with the traditional green.

After tendering the transport services, the company lost its bus routes in Esslingen that had been in operation for decades in 2018. At the same time, Schlienz and Fischle applied for other bundles of lines. After the contract for bus services in Plochingen and Waiblingen with a total of 14 lines, these have been operated by the newly founded joint venture Fischle & Schlienz since 2019 . The Schlienz Omnibus company operated 10 buses as a subcontractor for its subsidiary until the end of business operations.

Other regular trips carried out by Schlienz were the shuttle traffic to the Untertürkheim plant of Daimler AG .

On October 1, 2019, the company announced that it would cease operations as of November 30, 2019. The Fischle & Schlienz subsidiary was completely taken over by Fischle, as were the 10 public buses, while the travel business will be continued by Binder-Reisen.
