The Schlossbrauerei Rheder is a brewery in Rheder in East Westphalia in the Nethe valley , a district of Brakel in the Höxter district . The brewery is located in the outer bailey of Rheder Castle .

history

The family of the barons von Spiegel and Mengersen moved to Rheder as early as 1400. She administered the goods of the Paderborn Abbey and the Neuenheerse Ladies' Abbey . The town of Rheder was first mentioned in a document around 1120.

On July 2, 1686, Christian Falcko Freiherr von Mengersen, owner of the Rheder manor, was granted and certified the right by the then Prince-Bishop of Paderborn to “browse and pour beer” in Rheder. The castle brewery Rheder remained in the family property of the barons von Spiegel and Mengersen for 328 years .

The brewing water for Schloßbräu Rheder Pils comes from the nearby Nethe nature reserve , below the Sieseberg. The barley is processed on site. The company's master brewer is Joachim Corves.

Beer output

Every year, the Graeflich von Mengersen'sche steam brewery Rheder brews 30,000 hectoliters of beer and fills around 5 million bottles.
