Egglkofen Castle

Egglkofen Castle is a castle of the Montgelas family in Egglkofen , a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Mühldorf am Inn .

history

Egglkofen was first mentioned in a document in 1200. Egglkofen Castle was the seat of a closed court of the Barons von Dachsberg. The castle was rebuilt after 1648 after being destroyed in the war. From 1797 to 1838 the Counts of Lerchenfeld owned the Hofmark, which was converted into a 2nd class patrimonial court in 1820 . On December 30, 1833, Maximilian Joseph Graf von Montgelas (1759–1838) acquired Egglkofen Castle for 107,100 guilders from Baron Max von Lerchenfeld. The castle was owned by the Montgelas family until 2015, the death of Rudolf-Konrad Graf von Montgelas . In 2011 Rudolf-Konrad Graf von Montgelas founded the non-profit Graf von Montgelas Foundation based in Egglkofen, to which he also bequeathed Egglkofen Castle.
