The castle in Friedersdorf am Queis , today the Polish village of Biedrzychowice (Polish : Pałac w Biedrzychowicach ) in the rural municipality of Olszyna (Langenöls) in the powiat Lubański (Lauban) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship , was built in 1702.

The castle , which is protected as a cultural monument, was built by Moritz Christian von Schweinitz in 1702. The baroque building was created by converting a facility from the beginning of the 16th century. In 1863 changes were made by Alexander von Minutoli-Woldeck .

history

After 1427 the place belonged to the rule Tzschocha, which was located west of the border river Queis , belonged to Upper Lusatia . After 1453 the place was owned by von Nostitz . A permanent house was built around 1580, possibly using a previous Gothic building. In 1651 Johann Ernst von Warnsdorf bought the place. For Protestant refugees from Silesia von Warnsdorf had a border church built.

From the Festenberg-Pakisch the castle went to Hans Christoph von Schweinitz in 1672 . Moritz Christian von Schweinitz had the Renaissance building expanded in baroque style from 1702. In the 1730s, the building was further modernized, possibly based on plans by Christoph Hackner . In 1787 the property went to Gottlieb Wilhelm von Bessler, whose family sold the castle to Adolph Oswald Blumenthal in 1845.

In 1863, Alexander Friedrich Graf von Minutoli-Waldeck, who was a collector of arts and crafts, bought the palace and bequeathed his collection to the Berlin Museum of Decorative Arts. He had the Waldeck Tower built in the park to display parts of his collection. The nearby Neidburg was used by Count von Minutoli-Waldeck for the same purpose.

By marriage in 1895 the castle passed to the Pfeil and Klein-Ellguth families. After the region was claimed by the People's Republic of Poland, the castle was initially used as a rest home and later as a vocational school. Today it is restored as a castle and is used as a school.

After the transition to Poland in 1945, the castle was used as a vocational school from 1960 . In the years 2008/09 a renovation was carried out in accordance with the requirements of the monument.
