Castle high-rise in the Mühlviertel
The disused high-rise castle in the Mühlviertel was in the Altenhof district of the parish of Pfarrkirchen im Mühlkreis in the Rohrbach district of Upper Austria .
history
Hochhaus was the headquarters of the Hörleinsperger (Herleinsperger), who were also temporarily based in Weidenholz , Bruck and Niederwesen . Hans Hörleinsberger lived around 1391. Ulrich Hörleinsberger acquired the Hochhaus Castle at the end of the 15th century. After the death of Christoph Hörleinsberger in 1664, Heinrich von Salburg bought it and united the rule of the high-rise building with Altenhof .
Hochhaus Castle fell into disrepair around 1800 and fell into disrepair. The remains of the masonry were demolished in 1857-1859 and 1870 and used for road construction.
Structure of the high-rise castle
As can be seen in the engraving by Georg Matthäus Vischer from 1674, the high-rise building was a moated castle. A two-storey square system was surmounted by a four-storey tower and protected from the surrounding pond by a wall. A simple bridge led to the castle portal. Outside there was a well-fortified Meierhof and a chapel. This Meierhof (high-rise No. 1) still exists today, as is the Hofmühle (high-rise No. 7). The location of the castle is covered by a meadow.
