Krumpendorf Castle (2006)

Krumpendorf Castle in Krumpendorf am Wörthersee was built by Ursula von Schluga from 1735 to 1740 and was extended and given a new facade in 1820/21 under Thaddäus von Lanner. The property has been owned by the ÖGB since 1952 and is used as a training workshop.

description

The castle is a simple five or six-axis, three-storey building with a high hipped roof . The facades are structured by one or two-axis central projections and gable crowns on the west and east sides. The hall on the first floor has a barrel vault with stitch caps and belt arches . The marble renaissance door frame comes from Limmersach and served there as a fireplace decor. In the so-called women's room on the first floor, the floor has inlay work. The baroque grille in the east on the street side was brought here from Silberegg. Of the two former dairy buildings to the east of the castle, the seven-axle building was erected at the same time as the castle and extended in 1823, while the other was built in 1827 and later converted into a new building. The former stable building from 1827 to the south-east was also redesigned.

To the north of the castle, across the street, Lanner created an English park in 1828 as part of an agricultural experimental garden. The southern of the two garden houses was painted in 1891 in the classicist gable with a fresco of Pomona . There is a Roman bowl fountain in the park and two Roman epitaphs from Virunum on both sides of the stone stairs .
