Neuhof Castle

Neuhof Castle ( Polish: Zamek Nowęcin ) is a castle in Nowęcin , Powiat Lęborski (Leba District), Pomeranian Voivodeship, which is now used as a hotel .

history

In 1372 Grand Master Winrich von Kniprode awarded the place Leba to Dietrich von Weiher. After severe destruction in a storm surge , Claus von Wiher had the “new courtyard” built with a wall and moat, hence the name of the castle.

In the middle of the 16th century, Ernst von Weiher had the courtyard rebuilt in the Renaissance style and had an east wing added to the Jerusalem Chapel. From 1781 the castle was owned by von Somnitz auf Charbrow, and then changed hands several times. Around 1909 Leon Ritzke had the castle extended by a west wing and a six-story tower and an extension with an archway was built in front of the chapel.

The chapel still has a barrel vault with lunettes and in the niche a votive tablet with the inscription GWMUITG - 1567 - EWAUM ( God was in danger of death with us - He works mightily on us ), donated by Ernst von Weiher, who was seriously wounded from Livonian in 1567 War returned.
