The village and estate had been owned by the Wroclaw Premonstratensian Monastery of St. Vincent since the Middle Ages . With the secularization of 1810, the property came to the Lords of Haugwitz . From 1882 Pawelwitz was owned by the publisher Heinrich von Korn .

The present castle was built in 1891 according to a design by the architect August Orth in the French neo-Renaissance style. From 1892 Maria von Korn and her husband Konstantin von Schweinichen were the owners. They had some of the castle rooms painted by the painter Joseph Langer, including depictions of Schweinhaus Castle . In 1905 the palace was expanded to include a gentleman's house.

After the transition of Silesia to Poland in 1945, an agricultural academy was housed in the castle. Since the political turning point in 1989, the castle has been used by the Natural History Institute of the University of Wroclaw and as a conference center.

Building

The castle is three-winged and has a three-axis central risalit with an ornamental gable in which the cartouche of the Korn publishers' family is located. A column portico is in front of the central projection. To the side there is a tower with a pointed helmet from which a transition leads to the cavalier's house. In the rear English landscape park there is an arboretum of 70 hectares.
