Peterwitz Palace

Peterwitz Palace ( Polish Zamek w Piotrowicach Świdnickich ) is a moated castle in Piotrowice Świdnickie (German Peterwitz ) in the municipality of Jaworzyna Śląska ( Königszelt ) in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in Poland .

history

The moated castle built on the edge of the Preseka probably already existed in the 13th century. Ulrich von Lilienthal was the owner around 1500, Nikolaus von Zedlitz from 1526 and the Lords of Reibnitz after 1536 . Between 1590 and 1599, under Jacob von Zedlitz, today's renaissance castle with four cylindrical corner towers and a surrounding wet moat was built. Since the following generations at Schloss Laasenlived, the Peterwitzer Schloss was only used as an administrative seat from 1622 and therefore no longer fundamentally changed structurally. Around 1700 century, the hall on the upper floor was vaulted with Bohemian caps. Even later owners hardly had any structural changes made. After 1770 the castle was owned by the Counts of Burghauß , and from 1885 to 1945 by the Pfeil-Burghauß family .

As a result of the Second World War , Peterwitz and most of Silesia fell to Poland in 1945. The castle was initially unused, but was repaired between 1972 and 1977. Today it is in private hands and is being restored.

Building

The palace, built on a square floor plan, was decorated with sgraffito decorations until the end of the 19th century . The regular design of the facades and the axially symmetrical window arrangement of the courtyard-side gable facade are unusual for the construction period. Only a few items of the interior have been preserved.
